Important Scanlink Update

Critical updates to Scanlink with significant improvements

This is an important update. All pilots are required to move to the new version of Scanlink.

Key Improvements

Orbit-Based Scanning

Use of orbits instead of verticals for both the tower scan and the RAD scan mission components. The app will continue to capture verticals between obstacles. This change reduces rolling shutter distortion experienced with the DJI Mavic 2 Pro, resulting in much better 3D mesh quality.

Improved Focus Calibration

The new Scanlink version uses an innovative approach to setting focus that is far less error-prone. Focus only needs to be calibrated once when starting the first mission. Once this initial calibration is done, it is no longer necessary to set camera focus for subsequent missions.

Tower Type Selection

Pilots can now choose from the following tower types: monopole, self-support (lattice), and guyed wire. The guyed wire option facilitates inputting guyed cell towers.

Multi-Device Support

The same task can now be used for both the DJI Mavic 2 Pro and the DJI Phantom 4 Pro v2. Scanlink now works equally well with iPads and Android tablets, allowing you to use a DJI Phantom 4 Pro v2 in conjunction with an Android tablet.

Migration Instructions

During the next one to two weeks, all old Scanlink tasks will be cancelled and replaced with tasks generated with the new version of Scanlink. Each client will receive an email with a link to the new task. This email will also contain information on how to use the new focus calibration feature.

Until you receive this email, you may continue to use the old version of Scanlink.
